5 bis rue de Verneuil, famous address behind which hides the refuge de Serge Gainsbourg. Became the legacy of his daughter Charlotte, this house has not changed, nothing has moved since the death of the artist. A large number of objects continue to cohabit in a joyful mess : we come across the huge portrait of Hinny, the original manuscript of La Marseillaise which he bought at auction in 1981, or the Man with a Cabbage Head by Claude Lalanne. Everything remained intact, down to the cigarette butts in the ashtray, the packet of Gitanes placed in the corner of a piece of furniture, the full fridge and the opened bottles of wine. We almost imagine knowing this place, bearer of so many fantasies and legends. Tony Frank, who became a close friend of Serge Gainsbourg after they met in the early 1960s, had the privilege of frequenting these places and photographing him in his favorite setting. More than 25 years after the death of the artist, he returned to photograph this residence so rich in memories. Photos that bring the past to life and bring the singer back to life, through his emblematic objects.

The place is reborn from these ashes, on the occasion of an exhibition dedicated to it at the Galerie de L'instant, from March 29 to June 10. A series of shots that will highlight images captured today, but also taken during the artist's lifetime. Presented in the form of diptychs, a parallel between past and present, and presence and absence is established, showing how time seems to have stopped at this mythical address.
