PORTRAIT

Ludovic Baron is an artist-photographer who puts his overflowing imagination at the service of his art. This young artist was born in Wattrelos in France in 1986. Modern, innovative, creative and a bit provocative, he has a vision of photography that seduces with his desire to transmit his most incredible thoughts. His ideas, he realizes them, and that in the form of “art-photographs”. Fascinated by photography and the creation of images, Ludovic Baron marks in his art numerous borrowings from painting, cinema but also from modern myths, hence the ease that we recognize in him of playing with the old and embrace the modern. It was in Paris that the career of Ludovic Baron began, who today has short films to his credit (including Perfect and Help Me), numerous artistic projects with major French television channels such as TF1 and M6, exhibitions in prestigious places in Paris, at the Petit Palais, at the Théâtre du Châtelet and more recently at the Opéra Garnier gallery, but also the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco or the Sparta Gallery in Los Angeles. A large number of celebrities will then trust his eye and agree to pose under his light, like Eva Longoria, Justin Bieber or The Vamp. In his artistic universe between realism and dreamlike, Ludovic Baron invites you to daydream, to let your imagination speak in the most spectacular way possible. His sense of light and staging gives his images a certain realism and a feeling of movement while the latter are nevertheless very fixed and well and truly out of his imagination. It is also the research and the precision of an emotion which makes the singularity of his photographs where he sees “the world like a puzzle where each detail is important”. His art-photographs then seem to be the meeting on the same work of different pieces of life in search of an "emotional" destiny.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

You exhibit your works in the most beautiful settings in Paris, you photograph celebrities like Justin Bieber, Eva Longoria, Lara Fabian… How in 3 years have you been able to acquire such a career in art?

I had the chance to hang my paintings at the Petit Palais, the Palais Brongniart, the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Opéra Garnier or the Sparta gallery in Los Angeles… But nothing all that fell from the sky… Since I arrived in Paris in 2005, I have worked like never before without giving up, with a real desire to share my art with the public. I am very attentive to criticism and I am a man of the field, I learn from my mistakes. I have made many mistakes and I will probably make many more… I think my optimism and my ambition work in my favor but I am also a perfectionist and it is in this sense that my clients, as famous as they are -they can count on me.

Can you describe your style, like a good friend would?
Cinematic and magical, I think these are the right words to describe my style.

You describe yourself more as an artist than a photographer, can you explain why? What is the process?

First I have an idea, a reflection that I put down on paper. I draw. Then to become an art-photo;, my drawing leaves room for many stages such as the casting to find the characters, the setting up of the artistic team (make-up, hairdressing, styling), trips to photograph the elements of sets and of course the staging of the models in the studio. It is the assembly of the photos that will finalize the painting. The art of this technique is to tell a story through a process that moves away from simple photography where the photographer must take a direct shot in a given place.; likes to see the world as a puzzle that can be fun to dissect and put together differently, where every detail can be important although it is captured here or there.

How do you imagine these different constructions, these different stagings?
Everything around me can inspire me, I draw my ideas from my emotions!

How did you come to photography?
I started with video, and after making a film that has been seen almost 6 million times on youtube  I wanted to stage my ideas differently and the art- photo has been a fantastic medium. The goal is to share ever more emotions.
