PORTRAIT

Miles Aldridge was born in London in 1964. He studied at Central St. Martins School of Art and after graduating he worked as an illustrator and video director, then went into the photography. Vogue Italia, Paris Vogue, American Vogue, The New York Times and The New Yorkers publish his photographs. He counts Cartier, Coca-cola, MAC Cosmetics, Smirnoff, Martel, De Beers, Mappin & Webb, Mercedes Benz, LOréal and Lavazza among his advertising clients. He has also made commercials for Jean Paul Gaultier and Habitat. His work   has been exhibited many times in   museums and galleries around the world, culminating in a mid-career retrospective in Somerset in 2013 House.

In 2014, the Tate commissioned him to create a unique photographic installation in response to Mark Gertler 1916 painting, Merry-go-Round. In 2016, he was invited to collaborate with the artist Maurizio Cattelan on a series of photographs based on Cattelan sculptures. Recent work includes prints made with non-photographic printing techniques such as screen printing and photogravure which have been shown at Art Basel and Art Basel Miami Beach with publisher Poligrafa. There are several monographs on his work, including Pictures for Photographs (2009) which features his preparatory drawings, Other Pictures (2012), I Only Want You To Love Me (2013) and Please return Polaroid (2016) with a selection of Polaroids drawn from its archives.

His works are also visible in the permanent collection of many institutions including the British Museum, the National Portrait Gallery and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Carmignac Foundation and the Palais Galliera Fashion Museum of the city of Paris in France and the ;International Center of Photography in New York.
